A cop and two other drivers witness this entire event.
Read how this plays out in a later post.
But --- in the meantime and in between time – send me your commentary on how you think this should play out.
- What behaviors do you expect to be exhibited by each of the players?
- What outcomes do you anticipate?
- What outcomes would be ‘socially’ acceptable? What outcome would you accept?

Guess I'll take a stab at this....
1. I would suspect that the individual who has the damaged cake is beyond ticked off (not appropriate to write what I really think the reaction is/was). One would assume that if the cop in fact witnessed the driver failing to yield prior to turning on red, he would be turning on his sirens to pull over that driver. The non-yielding driver, is probably perplexed as to why he is being pulled over. Now the other two drivers' reactions would probably be based on whether they were directly inpacted by the right away driver slamming on the breaks.
2. One would think that the non-yielding driver would be issued a ticket. I would also think that the driver who now has the damaged cake would out of instinct confront the non-yielding driver while the officer has him pulled over.
3. What's socially acceptable would be for the cake driver to expect the non-yielding driver to replace the cake that was destroyed. If the non-yielding driver recognized that he in fact was wrong, he should see to it that the cake is replaced, seeing as though the damage could have been worse if the cake driver didn't slam on his breaks to avoid the accident.
I personally would accept the non-yielding driver receiving a ticket and replacing the cake. I would also expect the cop to be understanding of my anger and not issue me a ticket if I lost my mind on the non-yielding driver.

PS...looking forward to reading how this plays out.
Interesting, rational and well thought out!
Can't wait to see what others come up with...
