Doing What is RIGHT...simply because it is RIGHT!

Last Night on NJFORUM Laura Shoemaker and I had a discussion that quickly turned sour as often is the case when I try to have a conversation based on emotion rather than facts.

During the conversation I called her an “a--wipe” and it’s unfortunate that I allowed myself to even respond in that manner, but I did.

I asked that “my” post be removed in so much that it was my post, and having thought better of what I said I chose to pull it.

My apology is for using language unbecoming a Christian.

I wish I could tell you all that I won’t make mistakes along this journey; I assure you I absolutely will, but I will own my irresponsible behavior and take the necessary steps to correct same.

Thank You,
Renata

This really shows the type of person you are that you posted these comments and you didn't have to. Renata, it shows great courage that you owned up to what you said and that you apologized for it no matter how hard it was.

First, who are we to judge...NO ONE is perfect! If we were, we would not be involving seeing a number of issues arising around our children and furthermore US! Those that we have voted on in the past to make our decisions are you ok with them? I will take an individual in the heat of the momemt who isn't afraid to say what comes to their mind that someone who follows someone holding their poop bag just waiting to pick up S***. Right now it is time for change and someone whos me some tax $ back; surely our children aren't getting it. Renata do you and continue. I'm not looking for the perfect candidate I'm looking for the ones that CARE! Only one is perfect and while we are here on earth we are far from being nearer to thee.

Anonymous 10:57, Anonymous 10:58 etc... How backwards are you that you actually try to use this situation as a reason to say people should not vote for Renata. Lets be honest here, you are probably not supporters anyway of Mrs. Hernandez. Why must you post this if not that you want other people to see what you have written so they will jump on the bandwagon. No matter what you say Mrs. Hernandez is going to be the best board member our children have had in Plainfield in a very long time. She is only one person, but more than anything she is a person and she will make mistakes just like the rest of us.However, that does not mean she will not be good for our children. I have worked along side Renata and I know what she is about. She loves the children and wants whats best for them. She loves the parents and for many years have tried to educate them on how to take care of their children the way she takes care of hers.
You should be ashamed of yourself for trying to taint the person who is going to help our children and the school district.I am sure it would benefit you Anonymous 10:57 PM very well if she were to WITHDRAW HER CANDIDACY OF THE PLAINFIELD BOARD OF EDUCATION.Exactly how do you benefit???

Ignore the Nay sayers. It's more than likely the same person posting. Don't look back. Keep it moving honey! You'll have my vote and I can pull in many others. I have lived in this town for many a year and have a huge following of family and friends who are all REGISTERED VOTERS. Keep doing you. Ignore the rest. Be the voice for all the schools, parents, employees and other community stakeholders.

Renata, while I couldn't make your Monday meeting, reports indicate it was a good program. Well put together and well attended. Congratulations!

And your honesty and willingness to apologize for your insult to Laura has won you my vote. "Never apologize, never explain" has been the attitude of the majority on the BOE for too long. What we need on the BOE are people like you who can admit making mistakes, face up to them, learn from them, and correct their behavior. BRAVO!

People who want to criticize you because you made a misstep and owned up to it better think about what they are really asking for. You have a school board and superintendent who are at this time DELIBERATELY ignoring a binding arbitration ruling on the employee that Rasheed Adul Haqq just wrote an excellent letter to the Courier News editor about. His name is Paul Graves and has been with the district 23-24 years. This is because THEY made a misstep and are not man or woman enough to own up to it. This will eventually end up costing the taxpayers including the ones who think you should be perfect. From what I understand they have 3 years to stonewall and then they got to pay him. The judge has already told them at least twice to return him to his position yet he still sits home. For all you naysayers. Take note of Renata's title. "Doing what is Right...Simply because it is right!". Give me that kind of candidate any day. I believe over time she will get her emotions under control but if she does or doesn't I appreciate her integrity. Renata YOU GOT MY VOTE AND ANYONE ELSE I CAN GET!

Renata --

I'm not writing for the purpose of seeing my words published on your blog. Rather I want to make the very strong suggestion that if you truly intend to succeed in improving the quality of education provided the children of our community, you really need to get your very short fuse under control. Besides the heated exchange you had with Laura Shoemaker, I also followed your exchange with Maria Pellum last week.

You really need to develop a thicker skin when confronting people who disagree with you or call you out. Is the way you handled these exchanges going to be your style were you to become a board member? If so, I'm afraid you will succeed in serving no one. You would only succeed in making our community's educational endeavor a laughing stock.

I respect you for being willing to take on the burden of being a board of education member. It is a lot of work, a lot of pain, and and much too little appreciation from the community.

Please -- for the sake of our kids -- get your passion and short temper under control. I know you apologized, but two such instances in less than a week are really disturbing.

Very best regards and best wishes in your endeavors,

Randy Schaeffer
