Meet BOE Candidate #4

Lisa C. Logan-Leach
(Incumbent)

My name is Lisa C. Logan-Leach and I am running for re-election to the Plainfield Board of Education for a third term on some key points:

  1. Budget – We are all facing some very tough financial times currently, and our school district is not alone in this matter. With that in mind, we must ensure that any cuts that must be done do not have an immediate impact on our children in the classrooms. There must be a clear and concise plan of action done to ensure that our children’s educational futures are protected at all costs.
  2. Accountability – The Board of Education has one employee that directly reports to them – the Superintendent of Schools. It is imperative that anyone elected to the Board have a full understanding of all recommendations presented prior to voting. We can not afford to have duly elected members to vote yes just for the sake of voting. There should never be a time when a Board Member can not ask the hard questions to obtain the true facts.
  3. Governance – Under the State QSAC Report, it was clearly noted that board governance was a concern. With hard work and clear direct communication, this should never happen.
  4. Curriculum – This is the true foundation for any school district. We must ensure that the very best is offered to our children for their futures. We must ensure that we have all of the necessary supplies needed for our children to be successful.
  5. Community – We must do all that we can to bring in our community to assist in enhancing our schools. There is strength in numbers.

I have lived in Plainfield for almost 30 years and I am a mother of a middle school age child. I graduated from St. Augustine’s College with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Communications. I have prided myself on having a strong voting record of holding the Superintendent of Schools accountable to the children of Plainfield. With these top five points in mind, it is imperative that we all pull together to heal our community by providing real hope for a change of a better day in the Plainfield Public School District.

Some of my awards and organizations that I am a member are: 2002 recipient of the New Jersey Minority Achievers Program, Certified New Jersey School Board Member by the NJ School Boards Association, Career Day Speaker for numerous schools in Plainfield, Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Member of the Order of the Eastern Star Rebecca Chapter #1 (P.H.A.), Member of the Daughters of Isis Golconda Court #16, Past President of the Cedarbrook Elementary School PTA 2002-2003, Member of the NAACP, Member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and elected member of the Plainfield Board of Education since 2003.

I ask for your support of Lisa C. Logan-Leach (Line 7) on April 21st for re-election to the Plainfield Board of Education along with Brenda Gilbert (Line 2), Mahogany Hendricks (Line 5) and Katherine Peterson (Line 2).

Hi, Renata,

Katherine Peterson is running in Line 9, not Line 2.

This mistake is on the signs. Please let readers know the proper positions so that Mrs. Peterson doesn't get lost in the confusion.
