Where have they been?
Where do they stand on this current issue facing our school district?
I've seen Councilman Mapp at quite a few educational events including participating in a forum PEP help 2 year ago. I've seen 1 or 2 others step in for a minute at some as well. I get that the city's official business falls outside of the scope of education in terms of the BOE, However, BUT, AND -- I DON'T GET the complete absence of their presence, their voice or their support in this critical matter.
Many of them have blogs -- have you read anything with regard to where they stand on this issue? If so, please share.
So -- reach out to them PLAINFIELD and LET THEM KNOW we need them to come out and take a stand.

Fellow Bloggers...Please post a call out tomorrow for your readership to attend Tuesday's Board Meeting.
It's time to get OUR house in order!!!
P.S.: Both the Mayor and Assemblyman Green (who HAS Publically taken a stand) have been personally invited by me to attend this coming Tuesday. Notwithstanding short notice and/or a conflict in their schedule, I expect they will make an appearance.

simmons is the wrong number! city website has the same number. uggghhh
don't they have city issued cell phones?? I just looked on the website and they numbers are not listed for all.
I got this list from the City's website last night. So unless they changed it between then and now what I have is what is posted for the public.
The board is an autonomous body, separate from the legislative powers of the council. This is on purpose. Green has only made comments to try and influence the board with his ugly grandstanding politics. I think that the city council has enough to do with trying to get the administration to stop its own bait and switch with the incompetence going on with the mayor and her department heads. Maybe once the 11% tax hike we are facing is dealt with! Some also have other committee and volunteer and board and family caretaking obligations to deal with.
I'm clear who and what the Board is as I stated. We are all BUSY but unfortunately the state of the city's schools doesn't wait for WHEN WE HAVE TiME. It's a CITIZEN Obligation -- But here's the real connection for you. The 11% tax hike TAINT JACK compared to the 85% the city will lose in ABBOTT funding which you, me and all the busy council and property owners will have to pick up the tab. So do we wait until that happens. Well that would just be... So yes they must take a stand. You can't care about city government and opt out on educational issues -- that's Obtuse!
