It is My Honor and My Duty!

April 23, 2010

Dear Saints,

Grace and peace to all of you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ;

I would like all of you to join me in congratulating Sister Renata on a very successful campaign for a seat on the Board of Education in Plainfield. This is a win for; Plainfield, Christian Fellowship, the children of our church and city, homeowners of Plainfield, the Hernandez family and the Kingdom of God. I am so proud that she is one of ours and I am her pastor.

Be well advised that the work has just begun for Renata and our church. She will need our support now more than she did in the campaign. Please let us not fail our children now. The powers that be count on us showing up when things are hot and disappear when the day to day work is being done. Please don’t let that be said of us.

Again, CFGC congratulates Sister Renata on a job well done.

In Him,
Pastor Cedric

I am so proud of you Honey. Make sure you continue to watch and pray. God will order your steps, and protect you from those who would come up against you. Everyone that says they are for the children are not. They have other agends and I'm sure you will be able to spot them a mile away.

Love you and God Bless in JESUS Name!

Renata,

While I am not a believer I am touched by the support your church gives you and by your open display of faith, if it wasn't you I would be worried that the church is taking over the schools, but knowing your concern for what is right I also trust that you will spot a negative agenda for our schools and children miles away.

Renata,

This is awesome!

Clearly, you are a well rounded person who is loving mother, community advocate, and dedicated sister at church.

May the students, staff, and community in Plainfield benefit from your wealth of experience.

Renata, I know and respect your deep religious devotion. However your posting Pastor Cedric's letter concerns me. I would wish it had remained private with you as another personal congratulation.

Why? This country and this city is composed of individuals of many different faiths all of whom seek many routes to the same divine supreme being. As one of the three most sacred Jewish prayers goes "The lord is god, the lord is one"

I believe that encompasses all who believe no matter how we go that route.

There is a reason the founding fathers left out any reference to religion in the Constitution and reinforced it in the First Amendment.

I am happy that you were elected, and look forward to establishment of PSS policies that are designed to raise Plainfield's education level to one that will again attract residents to this city. I know that you will never forget that your fiduciary responsibility extends to all citizens and will never be clouded by personal agendas.

Renata,

I am happy to see that on your personal blog you posted how your church supports you. It is during the past weeks of so much negativity that your faith and your church supported you. I do not feel that you should allow the fact that you are a woman of faith of your own choice at CFGC be left behind now that you have won the election.

I do believe that you will fulfill all of your responsibilites as a PBOE Board Member, and I am sure all that voted feel the same way. For those that did not, the fact that they did not vote for you or maybe they did does not mean that they should dictate how you choose to celebrate your faith.

Congratulations again, and I look forward to supporting you. Thank you in advance for your service to our children and community.

Hi Vicky -- thank you kindly! My faith is very important to me and has been and ALWAYS will be. It is who I am. And although I can't open the BOE meetings with public prayer you can BEST BELIEVE I WILL PRAY PRIVATELY BEFORE I participate at any of the Board Meetings.

"Raz",Although I believe that the prayer opening a public meeting is superfluous ridiculous nonsense in view of the antics by the involved members at the meetings, I will never object to a truly nonsectarian prayer. This can not be offensive to anyone. There is nothing wrong for anyone to seek divine guidance and I feel that we all do have it even if we don't ask for it. Unfortunately there will always be those who would ignore it as they ignore all the basic moral principles that their faith professes.

You need not assure us that you will not be swayed or try to impose your religious beliefs. I for one take it for granted.

You will have a great impact upon the PSS
